[熟語] 賛否、長所と短所
物事の良い点と悪い点、つまり賛成できる理由と反対する理由の両方をまとめて表す表現です。何かを決定する際に、そのメリットとデメリットを比較検討する場面でよく使われます。
この表現はラテン語の “pro”（賛成）と “con”（反対）に由来し、英語ではそれぞれの複数形 “pros” と “cons” を “and” でつなげて使われるようになりました。日常的に使われる決まり文句です。
